Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs a variety of technical clerical duties. Maintains the daily operations needed to expedite the collection, sorting, and imaging of medical and dental claim documents. Works closely with PEHP departments on specific projects to enhance the efficiency of company operations. Acts as a company phone line operator and provides quality customer service.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  1. Responsible for opening, sorting, and scanning medical and dental claims for imaging on a high-volume scanner. Ensures all documents are scanned on the appropriate settings and image quality is clear and readable.
  2. Receives expedited mail and logs tracking information. Separates and forwards any mail not regarding medical or dental claims to the mail imaging group.
  3. Remedies routine technical imaging problems. Coordinates with the Imaging Interior Office Space Supervisor or IT personnel for any unresolved problems.
  4. Responsible for imaging and indexing processed PEHP documents. Performs quality checks to confirm that the best quality images have been captured. Indexes with accuracy to ensure documents are attached to the correct member or provider.
  5. Performs audits on indexed documents to verify documents have been attached to the correct member or location and image quality is readable.
  6. Uploads imaged claims to the viewing system daily.
  7. Receives calls on a multi-line console, provides accurate information, and directs callers to appropriate department or personnel.
  8. Retrieves medical or dental claims and other department documents from the archive that are not available in the image viewing system.
  9. Assists in escorting the shredding company to each of the shred bins for secure document destruction.
  10. Maintains strict confidentiality.
  11. Performs other related duties as required.

Required Experience

Education and Experience

High School diploma and six (6) months of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment

Incumbent performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require activities related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required to perform essential functions. Duties require work in a noisy environment around dust and chemicals. Requires moderate lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
